Roundup: Lakewood's Toskin records hat trick

Anthony Toskin scored all three goals Saturday to lead Lakewood to a 3-2 victory against visiting Highland.

Noah Hite and Will Fooce had assists for the Lancers (1-13-1), and Tanner Masters had 12 saves.

Lopez scores twice

Pedro Lopez had two goals in Newark's 11-2 loss to Tri-Valley. Garrett Kashner had four saves for the Wildcats (0-14).

Granville wins in shutout

Katie Cox and Karah Van Horn each scored in Granville's 2-0 victory against Westerville North.

Rose Sawyers and Gracie Dennison each had an assist, and Addison Hoover had six saves for the Blue Aces (9-3-2).

Watkins falls to Gahanna

Elizabeth Romshe had seven saves for Watkins (6-8) in a 2-0 loss to Gahanna.

Lancers lose quadrangular

Lakewood fell 4-25, 7-25 to Bishop Hartley, 4-25, 7-25 to London, and 17-25, 25-13, 10-25 to Mechanicsburg during a quadrangular on Saturday.

Alexa Cummins had 17 assists, Shelby Graham 10 kills and Elizabeth Bowman seven points for the Lancers.

TENNIS

Watkins doubles team advances

Watkins Memorial's Lillia Walter and Madi Burris finished 3-1 during the two-day Division I sectional tournament at Pickerington Central to place third and qualify for next week's district tournament.

Walter and Burris beat a team from Marion Harding and two from Gahanna while losing to a team from the host Tigers.

Aubry Pletcher and Amy Wright in doubles and Kaitlin Dean in singles each won two matches, and singles players Journey Kissell and Faith Triplett each won one match.

Granville's Eleanor Male also qualified for the district tournament in singles.

CROSS COUNTRY

Street leads Newark

Monte Street placed eighth (16:46.3) to lead the Newark boys during the Marion Harding Invitational. Bruce Davisson followed in 13th (16:59.4) and Zach Gayheart 18th (17:15.3) as the Wildcats finished fourth out of 20 teams.

In the girls race, Newark's Mackenzie Morton placed 13th (20:37.8).

Drushal wins race

Lakewood's David Drushal (17:07) won the boys hawks race during the Johnstown Invitational.

Anthony Bowman placed fifth (18:11) for the Lancers. Johnstown's Nathan Clark (18:15) won the hounds race.

In the girls meet, Northridge's Megan King (21:43) and Olyvia Ashbrook (21:53) took the top two spots in the girls hounds race, and Johnstown's Lily Mast (21:34) placed second in the hawks race.
