LANCASTER - Tickets are now on sale for The Lighthouse domestic violence shelter's ninth annual style show and luncheon.

The event will be from noon to 2 p.m. on March 4 at the Lancaster Country Club and will feature WBNS-TV personality Angela An as emcee.

"Our style show is a great opportunity to spend a fun girls' day with family and friends," Lighthouse board president and style show organizer Suzy Grubb said in a statement. "There will be basket raffles, the latest fashions and a good time for all. And at the same time helping victims of domestic violence through your donation."

The show will feature spring fashions and accessories from local boutiques and other retailers, including Christopher Banks, CJ Banks, Elder-Beerman, JCPenney, A Season in Time, Benesque Boutique and Cabi's.

The Lighthouse is a private non-profit agency that was founded in 1980 and provides several services for domestic violence victims, including a 24-hour hotline, counseling, and referrals for legal assistance. It also provides speakers for community groups and serves as a safe haven for victims. It is a United Way agency and a contract agency of several local organizations.

The Lighthouse last year provided more than 5,000 nights of emergency shelter and more 15,000 meals. It also provided services to about 1,600 people on an out-resident basis.

The Lighthouse executive director Suzanne Pelletier-Capitini said participating in the style show is a good way to take a stand against family violence.

It takes a lot to put the show on each year, as it has numerous local sponsors and contributors.

"Most of the women who attend each year come early to participate in the basket raffles," Grubb said. "We have so much much community participation. Our models may be someone you know."

The country club is located at 3100 Country Club Road SW.

Call 740-689-2558 to buy tickets, which are $35. Raffle tickets are also available for three prizes, and all proceeds will benefit The Lighthouse.
