Watkins Memorial wins Licking County League wrestling title

JOHNSTOWN - Despite being shorthanded, Watkins Memorial used its depth Saturday to win the Licking County League title.

The Warriors scored 209.5 points to edge Granville's 187 and Licking Valley's 164.5. Max Boyd was Watkins' lone champion at 182 pounds.

Nick Kurek was Granville's lone champion at 220. Gunnar Carpenter (120), Addison Fogle (126), Tyler Hartless (132) and Jake Martinez (138) gave Valley a meet-high four champions.

Klay Reeves (113), Forest Belli (152) and Steele Strout (160) won for host Northridge, and Drew Lako (106), Joey Harrell (170) and L.A. Kelly (195) won for Licking Heights.

Newark Catholic's Billy Luft (145) and Lakewood's Dane Black (Hwt.) were the other two champions.
