Sexton earns weekly honor

Watkins Memorial graduate Danny Sexton was honored Monday for a memorable debut for the Wright State baseball team.

Sexton was named Horizon League Pitcher of the Week after allowing just one run in a 6²/₃ innings against No. 10 Clemson on Sunday. The left-hander allowed four hits and three walks while striking out seven in a 9-2 win to give the Raiders the series victory.

Sexton, a redshirt junior, sat out the 2016 season after pitching at Tiffin University and Sinclair Community College his first two seasons.

The Raiders, who are ranked No. 25 by Baseball America, visit No. 5 South Carolina for a three-game series this weekend. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN3.
