Boys Basketball: Wildcats cruise past Whetstone

The Wildcats (22-1) hit 11 3-pointers Thursday in cruising past visiting Whetstone (4-19) to open Division I tournament play.

Newark hosts Columbus West at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

B.J. Duling and J.T. Shumate scored 14 points apiece. Hunter Dennison and Justin Carter each hit three 3s for nine points.

The Wildcats were 27-of-52 from the field.

Upper Arlington 60, Watkins Memorial 30

The Warriors fell on Thursday in Division I District play against host Upper Arlington.

Watkins Memorial was led by Tyler Ruff with a team-high nine points.

Upper Arlington was led by Max Martz with a game-high 20 points while Dane Goodwin added 19 points.
