GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The Reds fell to 0-3 on the Cactus League season with a 9-5 loss to the Giants on Sunday at Goodyear Ballpark.

Reds pitchers gave up three two-run homers — Connor Gillaspie off of Tim Adleman in the second, Joe Panik off of Robert Stephenson in the third and Jarrett Parker off of Nick Routt in the fourth.

THE ARMS

Right-hander Luis Castillo, acquired in the Dan Straily trade, made his Reds debut, retiring all six Giants he faced. Castillo struck out two and got weak contact by the next four batters he faced in a perfect outing. Left-hander Tony Cingrani worked around a walk for a scoreless inning, while Michael Lorenzen gave up a run on three walks and a hit.

THE BATS

The Reds took a 4-2 lead in the second, sending eight players to the dish. SS Zach Vincej doubled in a run and 2B Jose Peraza drove in another with an infield single before DH Dilson Herrera doubled in two. Peraza also added a double in the fourth inning.

THE REST

Scott Schebler threw out Joe Panik at the plate to end the first inning. With Panik on second and two outs, Giants right fielder Jarrett Parker singled to right. Schebler fielded the ball cleanly and threw a one-hop strike to catcher Stuart Turner, who tagged Panik out at the plate to end the inning.
