Mayors take 'polar plunge' for charity

Camp Fire’s ‘Freezin’ For a Reason’ fundraiser hosted its biggest ever polar plunge Saturday, raising over $3,000 for the organization. Among the 20 that took the plunge were Fremont Mayor Danny Sanchez and Gibsonburg Mayor Steve Fought.

Fremont Mayor Danny Sanchez challenged Gibsonburg Mayor Steve Fought to a friendly wager to see who could collect the most donations for Camp Fire prior to the “Freezin’ For A Reason” plunge. Sanchez won the challenge having raised $1,840 to Fought’s $1,110. In the end, however, both mayors took the plunge. The event raised $6,367 in total.
