Crouch honored for academics

Newark Catholic graduate Chayce Crouch recently was recognized for his work on and off the field at the University of Illinois.

Crouch, a sophomore quarterback, was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team. He was one of 35 Illini players honored, the most for any conference school.

Crouch, a finance major, had to have at least a 3.0 grade-point average to be recognized. He took over quarterback duties during October, leading the Illini to a victory against Rutgers before missing the rest of the season with a shoulder surgery.
