CHILLICOTHE - A woman who allegedly grabbed for an officer's gun was indicted for aggravated robbery on Friday.

Zenobia Gore, 36, faces between three and 11 years in prison if convicted of the first-degree felony charge. The charge, along with a first-degree misdemeanor theft charge, stem from a Nov. 9 incident at WalMart when a Chillicothe police officer responded to a shoplifting call. When Gore learned she was going to jail, she allegedly grabbed at toothbrushes and said she wanted to brush her teeth first. As the officer attempted to stop her, Gore then allegedly grabbed for the officer's gun three times.

Gore was subdued with pepper spray.

The case was one of 18 presented to Friday's Ross County grand jury, who returned indictments in all 18 cases. Of those, the following were open:

  • Maceo A. Chambers, 28, of Detroit, Michigan, possession of cocaine, a first-degree felony, and possession of heroin, a second-degree felony. The charges stem from an Oct. 5 traffic stop by Chillicothe police of a vehicle Chambers was riding in. During the stop, a trained K9 allegedly alerted on the car, which led to a search of Chambers. Police reported finding 44.964 grams of cocaine and 18.143 grams of cocaine on Chambers' person.
  • Chad A. Benarth, 37, of 431 E. Second St., possession of heroin, a second-degree felony, and having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony. The charge stems from an Oct. 12 search warrant of Benarth's home where Chillicothe police reported finding a loaded handgun and 22.374 grams of heroin. Some of the drugs and nearly $2,000 in cash were found inside an unlocked safe in the kitchen stove. Benarth wasn't supposed to have any guns due to a 1998 robbery conviction out of Lucas County.
  • Scotty Jones, 28, of 518 E. Franklin St., domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor. The charge stems from a Sept. 2 incident where Jones allegedly punched the mother of his child in the face outside Walgreens on North Bridge Street while she was holding their nearly 2-year-old. The blow caused her to fall to the ground and bruised her face.
  • Michael A. Strausbaugh, 54, of 433 E. Mound St., Circleville, tampering with a coin device, a first-degree misdemeanor. The charge stems from a Nov. 15 incident where Strausbaugh allegedly was caught on surveillance video trying to break into the coin vaults at a car wash on North Bridge Street.
