Police Calls | Suspicious drugs found in patient's room

OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, 335 Glessner Ave., Mansfield - A hospital employee Wednesday night found suspected drugs in a patient's room. The suspected drugs were confiscated and submitted to the crime lab to be destroyed.. The 40-year-old man was found to have an active warrant out of the Mansfield Police Department.

300 block of Jennings Avenue, Mansfield - A 41-year-old man took 40 to 60 clonazepam pills around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday after losing his job and feeling worthless. He was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, where an emergency admission form was completed.

400 block of Hammond Avenue, Mansfield - A stepson and his father, 39, were fighting over the 18-year-old man not obeying house rules. The victim refused to pursue charges.

Mansfield Tech Heroes, 52 Park Ave. W, Mansfield - A man told police he hired a moving company off Facebook and talked to a 25-year-old partial owner of the company. The moving company agreed to move several items for the man. The 25 year-old-man arrived with two 29-year-old men to move the man's property Sunday. When the man checked his inventory, he said he was missing an iPad mini, a backpack with clothing inside and six Apple laptops. The 25-year-old with the moving company denied any knowledge of or involvement with the missing items, but didn't know if the two 29-year-old men were involved.

500 block of Cherry Street, Mansfield - A woman told police she found a firearm in a china cabinet in a 91-year-old man's house Wednesday and wanted to turn it over to police.

Mansfield Senior High School, 124 N. Linden Road, Mansfield - A woman told police her daughter was assaulted at school more than a week ago, but didn't tell her about it until Wednesday. The mother said her daughter also told her she is being bullied. The mother also said she has contacted the school principal, but nothing has changed.

200 block of West Third Street/Bowman Street, Mansfield - An officer saw a 72-year-old man driving a vehicle Wednesday evening, and the officer knew the man had a suspended license. When the officer pulled the vehicle over and asked a 45-year-old man in the front seat to exit the vehicle, a crack pipe fell from his lap. The 72-year-old said it was not his pipe, but he had used it to smoke crack. The 45-year-old and another 26-year-old passenger were drinking beer in the car.

300 block of Vennum Avenue, Mansfield - A man told police he believes his 24-year-old girlfriend stole two TVs from his apartment Wednesday night to trade for drugs.

200 block of South Mulberry Street, Mansfield - A woman told police someone stole her debit card, credit card and social security card out of her unlocked vehicle  Thursday morning.

200 block of Vennum Avenue, Mansfield - A man told police someone used a Trump yard sign to unlock his vehicle and steal a $200 pair of sunglasses and a USB cord out of the vehicle Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

200 block of North Main Street, Mansfield - Police responded to reports of a naked intoxicated man Thursday morning. They contacted the man's ex-girlfriend, who said he had been causing a disturbance and "chugging vodka." They found the 47-year-old man drunk, naked and covered in feces. Police arrested him and incarcerated at the Richland County Jail.

Quick Carry Out, 233 Lexington Ave., Mansfield - A man told police someone damaged the south side business security camera Wednesday night. The person or people involved could not be identified because they were out of the camera's view.

Mansfield Senior High School, 124 N. Linden Road, Mansfield - A 15-year-old girl told police she put her cellphone in her locker and attached the charging cord between her phone and the outlet next to her locker Thursday afternoon. When she returned to her locker, her phone was gone.

The News Journal does not identify people charged with misdemeanor offenses in the police calls. This is a fairness issue related to the large number of incidents that we cannot report in the wide geographic area being covered. Offenders are identified through subsequent court listings.
