Millersport Village Council

Millersport Village Council met Sept. 13 and Officer Tobian Johns, who is joining the police department, was given the oath of office.

Fire Chief Robert Price reported the department received a FEMA grant in the amount of $207,000 for National Grain Bin Safety. The grant is sponsored by Nationwide Insurance. Millersport was one of two departments in the state to receive the grant, which came with a grain rescue tube, a training video and support and two-hour hands-on training.

Councilman Jim McKittrick presented a proposal from a company that will analyze the feasibility of refurbishing the swimming pool.

Josh Lutz is working on a checklist for the upgrades of the Terrace Street Pump Station. Lutz is researching the costs for a stationary generator to be installed that would resolve some of the collection issues. Routine maintenance is being done on the screen at the sewer plant.

The next meeting is 7 p.m. Oct. 11 in Council Chambers.
