Sheriff: Juvenile who escaped now back in custody

Staff report

CHILLICOTHE - A Ross County Sheriff's Office spokesperson has confirmed a 16-year-old boy has been captured.

Kody D. Johnson, of Highland County, was reported missing from the Juvenile Detention Center on Saturday but was caught Monday.

A tip resulted in Johnson's capture at Ohio 138 and Austin Road in Ross County, Staff Lt. Mike Preston said. Johnson was taken back to the JDC to be held.

Sheriff George Lavender reported Sunday night Johnson and another juvenile ran away from the Cattail Road facility. The second boy was found later that day near his home in Ross County, but Johnson remained at large.

He was being held on charges of arson and receiving stolen property out of Highland County and had been at the JDC since January.
