NEWARK - A 36-year-old Columbus man was listed in fair condition Monday at Ohio State University Medical Center after reportedly crashing a stolen motorcycle Sunday afternoon on Ohio 16.

Auto crash

The injured man, Lewis Featherstone, was taken by medical helicopter to the Columbus hospital after the one-vehicle crash at 4:22 p.m. Sunday on Ohio 16 westbound, between Cedar Street and Buena Vista Street, according to Newark police and fire officials.

Featherstone was riding a motorcycle stolen from Fairfield Avenue, in Newark, with a license plate stolen from Buckingham Street, in Newark, Newark police Sgt. Clint Eskins said. He was riding with another motorcyclist, who did not remain at the scene, Eskins said.

Newark police are investigating and will likely file charges, Eskins said. Galena, Ohio, has a warrant for Featherstone's arrest, but Eskins said he did not know the charge related to the warrant.
