COSHOCTON - Ryan and Camille McPeek have been spending a lot of time preparing a fall adventure that will provide family fun for the young and young at heart.

McPeek’s Mighty Maze, a four-acre corn maze filled with tall stalks, twists and turns, and lot of fun activities, will open to visitors Sept. 9 at the McPeek’s campground, Coshocton KOA at 24688 County Road 10. Formerly known as Colonial Campground & RV Park, the McPeek’s recently completed the process to meet KOA standards.

“It something fun to do during the fall season. Our goal is to make this a tradition for families in the community,” Camille said.

This will be the second year the McPeek’s have partnered with Maize Quest of New Park, Pennsylvania, to turn acres of corn into an autumn adventure. This year’s theme, Space Exploration, will give kids the opportunity to learn about space while having fun.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun, but it’s got the educational component, too,” Ryan said.

After catching a hay ride to the main attraction, visitors will embark on the giant maze with 22 game stations throughout with word finds and clues. There will also be a self-contained mini maze with five game stations for the smallest participants.

Ryan said last year’s activities were held by the campground office, but this year the area closer to the maze has been cleared to make room for private camping, games and more.

A fun park area at the front of the maze entrance will feature numerous exciting things to do, including the Weaver Barns activity building, a wagon train for kids, a corn box, playground and Pumpkin Central where visitors can buy and carve pumpkins.

“I think it will be more fun for kids and families with the activities this close to the maze. They can come in and out of the maze as much as they like,” Ryan said.

In addition to providing hours of family fun, the adventure through the maze is also ideal for groups, Ryan explained. Last year, church groups, school classes, scout troops, 4-H clubs and others took advantage of special group rates to make their way through the maze.

“It’s a great way to spend your weekend, and have fun with friends and family. It’s a nice way to make great fall memories,” Camille said.
