LANCASTER - Benjy Uhl enjoys being with his family in his spare time, going to movies and working on his five-acre property. The only problem is, he doesn’t have much spare time.

In addition to his job as executive vice president at NFocus Consulting, he is the Lancaster Festival executive committee president, which he said is like having another full-time job, albeit a volunteer one. Uhl also coaches soccer and basketball.

He will become a festival past president in two months after serving a two-year term as president and will stay on the festival board for one more year in that position.

Uhl has been affiliated with the festival for 10 years. And, of course, there is a full-time career at NFocus.

“We’re a data agency,” Uhl said. “We create systems to help people leverage their data or utilize other data for marketing purposes. So helping customers understand who their customers are and ways to target them and talk to them.”

The company started in 1989 and Uhl has been with it since 1996.

“I handle the overall company strategy,” he said. “Development, working with clients, partnerships, negotiations and contracts.”

One way the average person may come in contact with NFocus, at least indirectly, is through direct mail advertisements or packs of advertisements that are delivered to residences. NFocus works with clients who use such advertising methods.

“We host virtually every address in the United States,” Uhl said. “So we understand demographics. And then we take their (clients) customer information and work through models and scenarios to help them target.”

NFocus has both local and national clients, with most of clients outside of Ohio.

“I’m constantly traveling, speaking at client conferences and that type of thing,” Uhl said. “We have a customer in virtually every single state.”

Uhl is an Ohio University graduate with a background in marketing. He has two sons and is married to his wife, Holly.

“About 12 years ago, my wife and I were debating on staying in Lancaster or moving,” he said. “We decided to stay in Lancaster but with that we made a commitment to be involved in helping Lancaster be a better place. At that point we started volunteering and being a part of the community and we are happy we made that decision for our family.”
