Poster, essay contest winners honored at festival

NEW CONCORD - Winners of the fifth annual New Concord National Trail Ruritan Organization’s citizenship contest were honored during the recent New Concord Firemen’s Festival at the Village Park.

Fifth-graders from the East Muskingum School District wrote essays and second-graders designed posters. First, second and third place were given out in each category and each child will receive a citizenship T-shirt.

Jocelyn Briner placed first in the poster contest with Josie Swartz in second and Conner Williams in third. Essay contest winner was Mia Sterling with MyKenzey Erbach in second and Kaiden Walls in third. Overall, 22 finalists in each category were chosen.
