BALTIMORE - The grand marshal of the 2016 Baltimore Festival Parade will be David K. “Lumpy” Stilwell.

Stilwell has lived in Baltimore for 57 years and is a 1977 graduate of Liberty Union-Thurston High School.

He is a former 15-year firefighter/emergency medical technician with the Liberty Township and Basil fire departments; a 10-year member of the Millersport Community Theatre group, with five years on the board of directors; and a 10-year member of the board of directors for the Baltimore Festival Committee as parade chairman, including two years as vice president.

He started the parade in 1982 for the festival, serving as chairman through 1988. Between 1982 and 2016, he was the parade chairman for 17 of those years, having helped out in some way or another 14 of the other 17 years.

Stilwell said it is exciting and fulfilling to work on the parade, and he hopes to see everyone come out and enjoy the parade, then follow it to Johnson Park and join the fun.

The 40th annual summer/festival parade will come down the streets of Baltimore at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 6. Any organizations, churches, groups, troops, antique/classic cars, kids with decorated bicycles, clowns, etc., that want to participate in the parade should call 740-862-4951 or email baltimorefestivalparade@frontier.com.
