Need a seasonal job? Fanatics has 1,500

FRAZEYSBURG - Fanatics is looking to hire about 1,500 temporary employees to help meet the demand for the sport and holiday season.

The national sports apparel and merchandise company is looking to hire in a variety of positions, including seasonal warehouse associates and operation supervisors, to work out of the Frazeysburg distribution center at 5563 Raiders Road.

Sonia Postema, staffing supervisor with Fanatics, said starting pay for seasonal warehouse associates is $11.50 an hour. Pay varies based on shift and position and seasonal associates are entitled to benefits such as approved time off, holiday pay and company discounts.

Postema said shifts vary in length but are typically eight to 10 hours a day. According to the job posting on Fanatics' website, shifts for seasonal warehouse associates are Sunday through Wednesday or Wednesday through Sunday.

Based in Florida, Fanatics sells licensed sports merchandise and other memorabilia, including bobbleheads, T-shirts, jerseys and hooded sweatshirts.

Fanatics Inc. in Frazeysburg is hiring 1,500 temporary employees for the holiday season.

Muskingum County Commissioner Jim Porter said the 1,500 jobs are important because people are working in the county so they will spend their money in the county.

"Anytime you get someone back to work it's a good thing," Porter said.

Postema said Fanatics plans to partner with Ohio Means Jobs throughout Coshocton, Licking and Muskingum counties on a monthly basis in an ongoing recruiting effort. Fanatics currently has about 300 full-time employees and seasonal employees will have conversion opportunities for full-time positions based on business needs.

Those interested in a seasonal position can apply during a job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, at Ohio Means Jobs, 445 Woodlawn Ave. Muskingum County Ohio Means Jobs Supervisor Julie Metzger said anyone who attends the fair should bring their resume and dress professionally as interviews will be conducted.

"The Christmas season is their busiest time of the year and they start ramping up in June or July," Metzger said. "Then it goes full speed ahead."
