Power crew reports threats while working

LANCASTER - American Electric Power Ohio workers called police for an area watch after residents reportedly yelled at and threatened them as they worked to restore power on Sunday, according to police.

More than 1,900 customers on the city’s west side were without power beginning Sunday at 6 p.m. until Monday morning. Crews worked through the night to repair and test failed equipment at the substation, but some residents were still upset it had taken that long to restore power.

Work crews requested frequent drive-bys from police as they worked during the evening hours.

No further incidents were reported.
