Alzheimer's patient charged with murdering wife
Lou WhitmireMANSFIELD - A man described in a 911 call as having Alzheimer's disease was arrested Friday on a murder warrant in connection with the death of his wife, Barbara Manley, 65, whose body was found Monday at her residence.
Clyde Manley, 79, remains in the Richland County Jail. He will be arraigned at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Mansfield Municipal Court.
The Richland County Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit and the Ohio Bureau of Identification and Investigation worked throughout the week collecting evidence from the Manley residence, 1649 Frontier Trail, in Mifflin Township, according to a news release.
The Richland County Coroner's Office responded to the scene Monday night and an autopsy was performed Wednesday at the Montgomery County Medical Examiner's Office.
Richland County Prosecutor Gary Bishop could not immediately be reached for comment Friday afternoon.

In the 911 tape, a woman tells dispatchers her dad (Clyde Manley) has Alzheimer's and said her stepmother (Barbara Manley) went to Florida.
"Let me explain. My dad has Alzheimer's. He said my stepmom went to Florida and he just came to the house and my son told me to call for help. I don't know if he found my mom. ... Please send EMS. I don't know if she's hurt or what's going on," the 911 caller said.
She told the dispatcher she and her son needed the coroner at the scene and that she believed that all guns and ammunition had been removed from the residence.
