COSHOCTON - Five people pleaded not guilty to felony charges Monday morning during arraignments in Coshocton County Common Pleas Court.

Common Pleas Judge Robert Batchelor accepted those pleas, set bond and continued the following cases for further hearings.

Wendy S. Metheny, 39, of 648 John St., Coshocton, remains in custody on a $15,000 bond. She is charged with burglary, a second-degree felony punishable by up to eight years in prison, and aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor. Both charges stem from an Oct. 22 incident at a Coshocton home.

Jeremy L. Cottrell, 44, of 616 Main St., Coshocton, is being held on a $10,000 bond, charged with burglary and attempted theft in connection with an Oct. 18 incident at a Coshocton residence. The burglary charge is a second-degree felony, punishable by up to eight years in prison, while the theft charge is a second-degree misdemeanor.

Drew A. Conley, 28, of 618 Franklin Ave., Conesville, is charged with two counts of theft of a firearm, both third-degree felonies, involving a .40-caliber handgun and a .22-caliber handgun. According to court records, Conley previously posted a $10,000 surety bond, which Batchelor continued, pending the results of a court-ordered drug screening.

Chad A. Emler, 33, of 138-E Hickory St., Coshocton, is charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, a 2002 Ford Explorer, on Nov. 15. That charge is a fourth-degree felony. Batchelor set bond at $2,500.

Justin A. McNichols, 31, of 639 John St., Coshocton, will be freed on a recognizance bond while awaiting trial on a charge of unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance, blasting caps, on Sept. 2. That charge is a fifth-degree felony.

All five people asked Batchelor to appoint them a court-appointed attorney, a request that he granted pending successful applications.

Coshocton County Public Defender Jeffrey Mullen represented them in Monday's hearings, formally entering their not guilty pleas.
