2 killed in U.S. 23 crash

CHILLICOTHE - Two people were killed Saturday in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 23 near Rozelle Creek Road that also resulted in two teenagers being flown to the hospital.

According to the Chillicothe post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Crystal Biller, 37, of Galloway was driving a 2007 Chevrolet HHR south on U.S. 23 near Rozelle Creek Road and was struck head-on by a 1995 Ford Escort driven by Jessica Maynard, 25, of Beaver, whose vehicle was traveling north and crossed the median.

Maynard and Biller were pronounced dead at the scene by Ross County Coroner Dr. John Gabis. Biller's two sons, Joseph, 19, and Jacob, 14, were flown to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, according to the patrol.

Huntington and Scioto Township Fire Deparatments responded, along with Huntington Township squad and Portsmouth Ambulance. U.S. 23 was closed for several hours, with traffic being diverted to Massieville Road by the Ohio Department of Transportation.

The crash remains under investigation.
