CHILLICOTHE - A man was electronically subdued and charged with resisting arrest after refusing to leave a gas station Tuesday evening.

A Chillicothe Police officer responded to the Speedway on Bridge Street to a call of a suspicious person standing outside the business and scaring employees.

When the officer arrived, Aaron Southwick, 39, was outside and allegedly answered a question aggressively and “appeared agitated,” according to a police report.

Additional officers arrived at the scene, and after refusing several orders to leave the property, officers threatened to electronically subdue Southwick. He continued to refuse to comply with police, and a stun gun was deployed, striking him in the stomach.

Once on the ground, Southwick laid on his right arm and would not put it behind his back even after being ordered to stop resisting. An officer then struck Southwick once with a baton, at which point he stopped resisting and was handcuffed.

Southwick was taken to Ross County Jail, charged with disorderly conduct persisting, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
