GRANVILLE TOWNSHIP -- A Millersport woman, 38, was injured Monday morning on James Road after her SUV barely rear-ended a stopped garbage truck, just before a second vehicle rear-ended her vehicle, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Natalie Dollmatsch, 12130 78th Ave., Millersport, was transported to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by a Granville Township Fire Department emergency squad after the crash, which was reported at 8:21 a.m., Fire Chief Jeff Hussey said.

The driver of the second car, Tyler Perkins, 19, of 12130 James Road, was checked for injury and declined treatment, Hussey said.

The crash occurred while the garbage hauler, Local Waste Services, was stopped in front of the driveway at 1349 James Road in the eastbound lane at the crest of a hill.

According to the patrol, Dollmatsch had backed her car away from the truck and exited her vehicle to inspect the damage when the second vehicle struck hers, and her vehicle hit her.

Dollmatsch's condition was listed as stable Tuesday morning.

This was the first day of service in Granville Township for Local Waste Services, of Columbus, recently hired by Granville Township as the township's single trash hauler.

Bill Brady, who lives at 1349 James Road, said he was eating breakfast when he heard the garbage truck stop.

"All of a sudden, we heard a crunch," he said.

The front of the second vehicle, a small black Honda, sustained considerable damage as a result of the crash.

Both drivers were cited for assured clear distance, the patrol said.
