NEWARK – At least 13 cars were reported to have been damaged by BB guns in Newark sometime between Wednesday and Thursday.

Police reports show 10 complaints were made to police Thursday about vandalism that occurred Wednesday night. An additional four reports were received by police Friday morning about damage caused Thursday night, Sgt. Paul Davis said.

The damage on both nights was concentrated in the east end of Newark.

Reports were made from East Main Street, Russell Avenue, Homewood Avenue, W. Postal Avenue, Catalina Drive, Linwood Avenue and Garfield Avenue.

Rear windshields and windows in the vehicles appear to have been the primary targets, and all reported damage by BBs or other small projectiles, according to the reports.

This isn’t the first time vandals have struck in a wide scale, and it’s not the first time residents on the east side of Newark have fallen victim.

In March and April 2014, two juveniles and an adult were found to be responsible for damaging more than 130 cars with BB guns and other means throughout Newark.

In January 2013, members of the Ohio Boyz gang drove throughout the city and damaged more than 120 homes, cars and businesses with BB guns.
