Two injured in head-on Coonpath Road crash

Staff report

PLEASANT TOWNSHIP – Two people, including a 5-year-old, were taken to Fairfield Medical Center after being involved in a Monday afternoon head-on crash along Coonpath Road.

The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating the two-vehicle crash, which occurred near Floral Hills Memory Gardens in the 100 block of Coonpath Road around 1:30 p.m. Monday. Trooper Butch Wilson said alcohol is not ruled out as a factor of the crash.

Wilson said 34-year-old Kevin Krooner, of Columbus, was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla east on Coonpath Road with Logan Krooner, 5, in the car's rear passenger seat. Krooner was driving east, Wilson said, before veering left of center and striking a 1999 Ford Taurus driven by 19-year-old Kedric J. Young, of Lancaster, head on.

Young was up and walking around the crash scene. However, both Kevin Krooner and Logan Krooner were taken to the hospital for treatment. Wilson said the child was not riding in a child safety seat.

Wilson said another motorist witnessed the crash and allegedly saw Kevin Krooner swerving a couple of times before the final time when the cars collided.
