Port Clinton's Emily Ashley does her job as an undersized post.

Nobody came up bigger in the Sandusky Bay Conference this season. Ashley was recognized league player of the year after the Redskins earned their first ever conference crown.

Port Clinton's Emily Ashley puts up a shot and is fouled by Bowling Green's Kendal Glandorff.

Considering I'm a center at 5-8, my roles are to get some rebounds and score, obviously, but I also think leading some of the younger girls is a big responsibility," Ashley said. "I'm so proud of my team and everything we've worked for. It's so great to see five teammates receive awards, too.

"I love these girls and it is such a great feeling to be a part of all this. The feeling is unexplainable. It's such an honor. I've been working a long time on my game and to get awarded like this really means a lot. I'm really happy I could do this for Coach (Toby) Bickel."

Port Clinton's Hannah Weaver is also a first-team pick.

"Emily is so tough mentally and physically," Bickel said. "Hannah always had so much positive energy. They just willed us to wins many times this year. The hard work and leadership ... they led by example and showed the younger kids how to practice and play on a daily basis."

Oak Harbor's Andrea Cecil is also a first-team pick.

Port Clinton's Hannah Weaver sinks a basket as she is pressured by Margaretta‘s defense in January.

"On our team, we always talk about knowing your role and accepting your role," Cecil said. "Whether it's defensive, shooter or anything else. I believe my role is our go-to player and scorer. If there's a close game and not much time left, the coaches and the rest of the team want the ball in my hands."

The Redskins' Bethany Urban and the Rockets' Maddy Rathbun are second-team for the girls. Port Clinton's Drew Fodor and Oak Harbor's Tyler Sievert are second-team for the boys.

The Redskins' Adrianna Hall, Sydney Alexander and Marissa Day, and the Rockets' Emma Barney, Athena Eli and Abby Dornbusch are honorable mention for the girls. Port Clinton's Tytan Rumball, Carter Rumball and Stefan Daniels, and Oak Harbor's Deshawn Johnson, Paul Shay and Kalob Vargas are honorable mention.

Nick Stauffer is player of the year after Huron won the boys championship.
