Lowery and area coaches highlight All-East District

Ridgewood’s Amanda Lowery has accomplished a lot of things in her basketball career with the Generals.

The senior was able to add another achievement Tuesday night after she was named first-team All-East District when the list was released to the public.

Lowery averaged 18.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game and also surpassed the 1,000 career point plateau earlier this season against East Canton.

Sophomore guard Audrey Tingle was named to the second team after averaging 13.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 3.5 assists per game.

Junior guard Morgan McDorman and junior post player Kaitlyn Finton were each special mention selections while senior guard Baylee Haynes was an honorable mention choice.

Ridgewood head coach Doug Patterson was also named coach of the year in Division III after leading the Generals to a 19-3 regular season record.

Also in Division III, Coshocton senior Katie Tupper and sophomore Madison Jackson made the special mention list while freshmen Tiffany Means and Tyra Woods made the honorable mention team for the 4-18 Redskins.

In Division II, River View junior Katie Lahna was the lone player selected and she was an honorable mention pick for the 4-18 Black Bears.

For the boys, Coshocton made the most waves this season under coach Tom Hilgenberg, who was named Division III East District coach of the year.

The Redskins were 4-19 in 2013-2014, but finished 13-9 this season with virtually the same roster.

Senior Sam Magness highlighted things for the team after being named to the second team. He averaged 11.3 points per game for the balanced Coshocton offense.

Sophomore Andrew Mason and junior Conner Roahrig were each special mention selections after averaging 9.3 and 8.2 points respectively per game.

Also in Division III, Ridgewood’s sophomore duo of Keith Leindecker and Braeden Smith were listed on the special mention team and sophomore guard Jhett Slusser was an honorable mention pick. The Generals were 2-20 during the regular season.

In Division II, River View junior Matt Brillhart made the second team list after averaging 17 points and just under five rebounds per game. Teammate and junior Jon Dart made the special mention list after averaging 13 points and nine rebounds for the 6-16 Black Bears.
