County applying for traffic grant

Staff Report

ZANESVILLE - The Muskingum County Engineer’s Office is applying for a $36,000 grant to complete a speed study on several county roads.

Without a study, County Engineer Douglas Davis said posted speed limits are not legally binding. The grant would be a 90 percent funded federally and 10 percent funded locally.

If the grant is awarded, Davis said the study would begin this year. The roads that would be included in the study have not been finalized.
