COSHOCTON - A 33-year-old man arrested during a January drug raid in West Lafayette was sentenced to four years in prison for trafficking in heroin and intending to manufacture methamphetamine.

Shawn S. Bradford

Shawn S. Bradford, of 216 E. Fourth St., West Lafayette, had pleaded guilty in September to trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony, and illegal assembly or possession of chemicals with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine, a second degree felony.

He admitted to selling or attempting to sell half a gram of heroin near a school Jan. 15, according to his indictment. His indictment also alleges he was in possession of lye, fuel, lithium batteries and decongestant with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine when authorities arrested him Jan. 16.

He was arrested at his home after a multiagency investigation into drug activity, the Tribune previously reported. Investigators reportedly uncovered methamphetamine manufacturing material and other drug paraphernalia during the search, which was part of a joint investigation conducted by the West Lafayette Police Department, the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office and the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office.

He originally pleaded not guilty to the two-count indictment at his March arraignment.

Judge Robert Batchelor sentenced him to 17 months in prison for trafficking heroin and four years in prison for the second-degree felony. Both those sentenced will run at the same time, according to the Coshocton County Prosecutor's Office.

Batchelor credited Bradford with 312 days of jail time he has already served.
