Pizza Chef hopes to continue success on east side

CHILLICOTHE - The new owner of a longtime pizza shop in the east end of Chillicothe is looking for continued success after purchasing the business nearly four months ago.

Adam Bailey, who bought Pizza Chef at 957 E. Main St. Aug. 4, is a former volunteer firefighter in the village of Beaver and also served as a firefighter in Liberty Township in Jackson County. Before taking over Pizza Chef, Bailey was a warehouse manager in Chillicothe and said he has always wanted to run a business.

Bailey cited his father as being a big inspiration in enabling him to pursue his dream, and said it has been a learning experience for him since taking over Pizza Chef, which reopened Sept. 1.

"I've always tried to model myself after him," Bailey said. "I don't know how well it's going to go, but we're giving it a shot."

Pizza Chef, which has been in Chillicothe since 1993, offers more than a dozen specialty gourmet pizzas, in addition to handmade lasagna, pasta, subs, salads and gyros. Bailey said there haven't been any menu changes since he took over. Pizza dough and sauce is made fresh daily at Pizza Chef, according to Bailey.

He added business has gone good so far and wants to let people know that Pizza Chef is open and ready to serve customers seven days a week. In addition to offering gourmet pizzas, Bailey said what sets Pizza Chef apart from other pizza stores in Chillicothe is the fact it offers gyros.

Still, Bailey is looking for good things as he continues to press forward. He has five employees who keep things running smoothly.

"It's full steam ahead," he said. "We want everybody to come out and give us a shot."
