Wife chosen to fill late husband’s trustee post

CHILLICOTHE — Union Township has announced that Wilma Whitten was appointed to a trustee position Aug. 19 by trustees Harold Bennett and Donald Arledge.

Whitten replaces her husband, Robert Whitten, on the board following his death Aug. 18. Wilma Whitten was sworn into office Aug. 31 by Common Pleas Judge Scott Nusbaum.

Because of the circumstances involving the death of a trustee, Wilma Whitten will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot as a candidate to serve out the remainder of her husband’s term, which expires Dec. 31, 2017.
