Man taken by Life Flight after four-wheeler crash

Staff report

YORK TOWNSHIP — A Bellevue man was taken by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo for non life-threatening injuries following a single-vehicle four-wheeler crash Tuesday afternoon.

Mark Butz, 35, of Bellevue was traveling westbound on Sandusky County Road 113 around 3:54 p.m. Wednesday when he tried to make a northbound turn onto Sandusky County Road 270 with his four-wheeler, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Butz appeared to have misjudged the distance on the turn, hit a patch of rocks on the roadside and flipped several times before being ejected from the vehicle.

The Ohio Highway Patrol reported that Butz was not wearing a helmet and suffered some leg lacerations and complained of some neck pain.

Excessive speed was not thought to be a reason for the crash, according to the Highway Patrol, and alcohol is also not believed to be a factor.

The Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash and will interview Butz once he is available for additional questions.

Dispatch for the patrol said there were no traffic delays after the crash.
