CHILLICOTHE – Authorities are investigating whether it was a domestic dispute that led to a man being shot in the head at a Jefferson Avenue residence Sunday night.

According to Chillicothe police, officers were sent to 755 Jefferson Ave. at 10:40 p.m. in response to a shooting call and arrived to find Nathan McGlone, 45, of Bishop Hill Road, with a single gunshot wound to the head.

He was taken by city squad to Adena Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was in the intensive care unit Monday morning in critical condition.

Police believe the shooting might have been tied to a domestic dispute between James Wilson and his wife. According to police, Wilson allegedly struck his wife and knocked her to the floor and then turned toward McGlone and fired one round, striking him in the head.

Wilson, 59, of 755 Jefferson Ave., was arrested and charged with attempted murder, felonious assault and domestic violence. He was being held Monday morning at the Ross County jail with no bond until an arraignment in Chillicothe Municipal Court.

He was later arraigned on all three counts, two of which are second-degree felony charges, and is being held on a $1 million bond. Wilson is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 10.

Ross County Prosecutor Matt Schmidt said charges against Wilson might be presented to a grand jury in the near future, but any possible additional or altered charges will be dependent on the status of the victim.
