CATAWBA ISLAND TOWNSHIP – After four years of service, Brandy’s Steakhouse will be closing its doors for good at the end of the month.

Owner Lance Brandenburg, whose brother Kim Brandenburg owns the property, said he was looking for a new location for the steakhouse and hopes to stay in the area.

“I just want to thank all the people who have helped me over the years and for the local support,” Brandenburg said.

Brandy’s Steakhouse opened in May 2012 at the old Islander Golf Course and Country Club at 2590 E. Sand Road, on the Portage and Catawba Island township line.

Brandenburg said they built a local fan base year-round and gained regular tourists during the tenure.

He said he had no qualms with his brother but was looking to buy a place of his own in Ottawa County to continue Brandy’s legacy.

He said he didn’t know of any plans his brother had for the site, which he has owned for nearly a decade. Brandenburg said he was thankful to his brother for the opportunity to work at his own restaurant.

Brandenburg specifically mentioned several employees who worked for him over the years, including Cindy Amais, Rachel Chasteen, Ashley, Amber and Abby Wuersing, Cheryl Smith, Bethany Halbeisen, Kathy Szabo, Kip Sorgen, Holly Milinovo, and Alex Filliator.

“I’ve had a great staff, both seasonal and year-round,” Brandenburg said. “I couldn’t have done it without them.”

The final day of service at Brandy’s Steakhouse will be Sept. 26.
