Police log: Man seen swinging ax on road

SANDUSKY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

TROUBLE WITH PERSON

• 5:15 p.m., a caller reported a man was damaging her home and had left with an ax and was walking on Sandusky County Road 65, Washington Township. The sheriff’s office also received multiple 9-1-1 calls about a man walking down that road swinging and ax and asking drivers to kill him. Gibsonburg police and a Sandusky County Park District ranger found the man and were able to take the ax from him. He was then taken to ProMedica Memorial Hospital for a mental evaluation. Charges are pending.

CHILDREN IN ROAD

• 7:46 a.m., a caller reported two small children in diapers were in the road at U.S. 6 and Sandusky County Road 26, Madison Township. A deputy was not able to locate the children.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

• 9:05 p.m., a caller reported a man was trying to get into a garage, 1400 block of River Road, Ballville Township.

CHARGED

• Jay Warren, 31, was charged with a felony probation violation.

• A 37-year-old Bellevue man was charged with endangering children and domestic violence.

FREMONT POLICE

CRASH

• 9:31 a.m., Paul Ohm, 61, Fremont, was cited with failure to yield the right-of-way from a stop sign after a crash, 1100 block of Napoleon Street.

CHARGED

• 1:14 p.m. a 21-year-old Fremont man was charged with driving under suspension after a traffic stop, Hamlin and Jackson streets.

• 2:49 p.m., a 33-year-old Fremont man was charged with violating a protection order, 1500 block of North Street.

• 8:38 p.m., a 46-year-old Fremont man was charged with disorderly conduct after police said he was stumbling down the street, 1000 block of West State Street.

ROAD HAZARDS

• 5:17 p.m., a power line was down in the road, Stone Street.

• 6:30 p.m., a caller reported a tree was blocking the road, 600 block of Cleveland Avenue.

• 6:50 p.m., a caller reported tree branches were in the road, Hayes Street.

• 6:59 a.m., a caller reported a theft, 1500 block of Carlton Court.

BELLEVUE POLICE

ARRESTED

• Brandy Bean, 27, Bellevue, was arrested on warrants for felony burglary, forgery and theft charges. The burglary charges resulted after Bellevue police received reports of a woman knocking on doors and asking to use the phone and bathroom and asking for water. While the residents of the houses were out of the rooms, the woman would steal items. The forgery charges were from a separate case.

CITED

• 7:02 a.m., a 53-year-old Sandusky woman was cited with expired registration after a traffic stop, West Main Street.

• 9:14 a.m., a 32-year-old Bellevue woman was cited with speeding after a traffic stop, Castalia Street.
