United Way of Sandusky County raises nearly $700K

LINDSEY – The United Way of Sandusky County celebrated the completion of its 2014 campaign during the Annual Awards Celebration Banquet on May 5 at the Wilson Nature Center in Lindsey.

The 2014 United Way Campaign raised $694,956, which was $14,740.44 more than was raised the previous year.

The annual campaign begins each summer with the Pacesetter companies leading the way. The 2014 Pacesetters were Crown Battery, Fremont Federal Credit Union, Green Bay Packaging, Style Crest, ProMedica Memorial Hospital, Mosser Construction, Terra State Community College and the Whirlpool Corporation’s Clyde Division.

During the banquet, the following awards were presented:

•The Friends of United Way went Croghan Colonial Bank, Crown Battery Manufacturing Co. Inc., Mosser Group/WMOG, Style Crest Enterprises Inc., and the Whirlpool Corporation’s Clyde Division.

•The Award of Excellence went to businesses with 100 percent employee participation: Burkett Industries, Camp Fire of Sandusky County, Hayes Elementary School, Lutz Elementary School, Old Fort Banking Co., Sandusky County Commissioners’ Office, Sandusky County Family and Children First Council, and Xcel Energy.

•The Outstanding School Employee Campaign Award was given to the Fremont City Schools District Office.

•The 2014 Campaign “Extra Mile” Award was given to ProMedica Memorial Hospital.

•Corporate Award of Excellence went to Old Fort Banking Co. (one to 49 employees); Mosser Group/WMOG (50 to 99 employees); Croghan Colonial Bank (100 to 199 employees); and the Whirlpool Corporation’s Clyde Division(200 or more employees).

•The Employee Achievement Award was given Sandusky County Prosecutors Office (one to 49 employees); First Energy Corp. (50 to 99 employees); Croghan Colonial Bank (100 to 199 employees) and ProMedica Memorial Hospital (200 or more employees).

•The “Helping Hand” Campaign Award was given Annette Overmyer, of ProMedica Memorial Hospital.
