MARION – A 2-year-old Marion County toddler died Friday morning after she was found in a pond at her Mount Olive-Green Camp Road residence, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

A family member called 911 at 9:22 a.m. to report the incident in which Jaylynn Adamson died after being removed from the pond, Lt. Jason Dutton of the sheriff's office said.

MedCare Ambulance took Jaylynn to OhioHealth Marion General Hospital after responding to the scene along with the Scioto Valley Fire Department, Dutton said.

"It appears to be an accidental drowning, but we're still investigating," he said. "The squad was called and CPR was performed, and she was transported to Marion General Hospital. They were working on her as they transported her."

Rescuers attempted to resuscitate her when she was found, Sheriff Tim Bailey said.

Marion County Coroner Dr. Marc Comianos said Jaylynn was pronounced dead in the emergency room at the hospital. Comianos said she was found in the pond by a family member.

He said her body was sent to the Franklin County Morgue for an autopsy. He didn't expect to receive preliminary results until Monday.

Dutton did not disclose any details of the circumstances of the death.

"We're still interviewing witnesses," he said.
