64 give to LeBron's charity for 1st coaster ride

SANDUSKY – Sixty-four people anted up around $10,000 for LeBron James' charity for the privilege of getting the first ride on a new roller coaster at Cedar Point.

The Sandusky amusement park and the LeBron James Family Foundation teamed up to auction off spots on the first public run by the Rougarou coaster. That will happen during a special event at the park Friday night, a day before the park opens for the season.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports that the top bidder offered $760.

The park and the foundation partnered after Cedar Point officials offered to rename a coaster when James when returned to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Instead of renaming a coaster, James and the park worked out a deal where Cedar Point will support the foundation.
