CHILLICOTHE — The Chillicothe Police Department was kept busy Thursday responding to several calls involving alleged drug use and possession.

The call creating the most drama for officers came in around 5 p.m. Thursday and involved a suspicious person in a Jeep at 900 King St. with possible drug activity.

Officers arrived to find the Jeep with three people inside, and when checks were run on their names, the Social Security number for one woman did not match up with the name given, officials reported.

The woman, later identified as Tara L. Adams, 44, of 725 Spargursville Road in Bainbridge, provided another Social Security number and, as the officer was running it, reportedly got out of the Jeep and began walking southbound in Sherman Park. The officer ordered her to stop, but she allegedly began running.

The officer caught up with her in the 500 block of Sherman Park and, according to the police report, she resisted the officer’s attempt to place her into custody and, once she was subdued, would not comply with the officer’s order to stand and be escorted back to the cruiser.

In searching her purse, the officer reported finding a drug kit with two hypodermic needles, a spoon with black marks from a fire source and a green string that authorities said is consistent with heroin use. The officer also discovered Adams had three active warrants for her arrest.

She was charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of drug abuse instruments, in addition to a pair of warrants for failure to appear on a theft charge and another warrant on the theft charge itself.

Another occupant of the vehicle, Robert Miguel De Los Santos, 37, of 330 Midland Road, also was taken into custody on a warrant out of the Adult Parole Authority.

In the other drug-related incidents Thursday:

•At just after 1 a.m., police were dispatched to 79 E. Second St. regarding an occupied suspicious vehicle parked in the lot of the closed business at that address.

When authorities arrived, they said they observed several “track marks” indicating potential drug use on the arms and hand of two of the women inside. The two women and a man gave permission to search their persons, which turned up nothing illegal.

During a search of the vehicle, however, a pair of glasses cases were reportedly discovered, one of which contained two used syringes and an unused crack pipe and the other containing two additional used syringes.

Arrested were Stephanie Nikole Beatty, 24, of 341 E. Main St., and Zachary C. Rudd, 30, of 341 E. Main St., both on charges of possessing a drug abuse instrument. Nothing illegal was found on or near the other woman in the vehicle, so she was released without charges.

•Police responded to the Speedway station on East Main Street about 2:40 a.m. regarding a person passed out behind the wheel of a car at one of the gas pumps.

After significant prodding, the officer reportedly was able to wake Mikael L. Detty, 26, of 158 Marshall Road, and administer a field sobriety test, which he allegedly failed, and he was placed under arrest on a physical control violation.

According to the police report, during a search, two small pills identified as alprazolam were discovered, and inside a cigarette pack in his pocket, a home-rolled cigarette believed to contain marijuana was discovered. Detty also was cited with possession of marijuana and issued a summons on a possession of drugs charge.

•At 6:37 p.m., police were called to the Dairy Queen on High Street in response to an anonymous call about a vehicle suspected of being used in drug activity.

A traffic stop was made as it left the Dairy Queen drive-thru, and authorities reported an overwhelming scent of marijuana coming from inside. The driver, Gabriel Bower, 20, of 340 Anderson Station Road, admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle, according to the police report, and a search was conducted during which a gallon-sized freezer bag about a third of the way filled with suspected marijuana was reportedly found inside a book bag in the back seat.

Both Bower and his passenger, Breaunna Blevins, 20, of 3336 Putman Road in Clarksburg, were placed into custody and asked whether there were any more drugs or paraphernalia inside, to which they reportedly responded no. A more thorough search, however, revealed a small bag containing a small amount of suspected marijuana in the passenger door and $480 in cash.

The officer asked whether the cash was from the sale of marijuana, to which Bower said about $100 of it was, according to the report. The pair were charged with possession of drugs.
