Downtown repaving set for Monday

FREMONT - As part of a city resurfacing project, downtown streets are set to be repaved beginning Monday, according to Mayor Danny Sanchez.

Front Street from State Street to Birchard Avenue will be repaved as well as Garrison Street from Arch Street to Bidwell Avenue. As part of the project, traffic signals at the intersections of Front and Croghan Street, Front and Garrison Street and Front Street and Birchard Avenue will be replaced by four-way stop signs.

The project is expected to last three weeks and will include repaving of Ohio Avenue from State Street to Walnut Street, Fangboner Road from North Street to the cul-de-sac by the Fremont Ross tennis courts.

"As mayor, I am excited for the improvements to downtown Fremont," Sanchez said.

The total cost of the project is $406,133, according to Fremont City Street Superintendent Bill Guhn.
