Bulletproof vest taken from sheriff’s office vehicle

CHILLICOTHE – A sheriff’s office employee is missing two items after someone took them from his unmarked cruiser Saturday.

But the theft wasn’t the only one reported in the Timberlane Drive area.

Chillicothe police received a call at 12:45 p.m. from the sheriff’s employee saying that his bulletproof vest and its carrier, with a total value of about $750, were missing from his department-issued Ford Explorer. Nothing else was reported missing.

The deputy told police he had parked and locked his vehicle and last checked it at 1 a.m., but he received a phone call at about 10:49 a.m. telling him two sheriff’s office patches were found in the street.

Two other theft reports were filed as well. An Indiana woman visiting from out of town reported a digital camera stolen from her car as it was parked overnight. Another caller on Watch Hill Drive reported a items stolen from a vehicle and a bicycle also taken.
