ZANESVILLE - Dover simply did what it wanted on Friday night.

The Tornadoes hit five 3s to build a 12-point halftime lead and used a 9-0 third-quarter run to seal a 51-35 victory in East Central Ohio League play at Winland Memorial Gymnasium.

Dover (12-8, 6-5) also owned a 22-17 edge on the boards and forced 12 turnovers. The Blue Devils (6-12, 6-6) were also just 13-of-33 shooting.

"Dover was better physically, mentally and fundamentally. They were tougher," Zanesville assistant Nate Seekatz said. "They were very focused on what they wanted to do and executed to the 'T'. Every time they hit us, we didn't punch back."

Tyler Bardall and Zach Ravine combined for 33 points. Bardall opened Dover's scoring with a pair of 3s, and Ravine's triple with three minutes left in the first quarter put the Tornadoes ahead for good at 9-6.

Ravine also converted a three-point play late in the first to make it 14-8 after one.

KeShawn Underwood opened the second with a jumper to bring the Blue Devils within 14-10. However, Zanesville had six straight empty possessions, allowing Dover to build a 23-10 lead after a Brandon Troyer hoop.

Ravine hit his second 3 with a minute to go in the half, as Dover was up 26-14 at the break.

Anthony Williams hit three straight triples in the third for Zanesville to cut the deficit to 29-23.

Dover's Charlie Hamm split a pair of free throws after two offensive rebounds, and Maguire Morris drove to the hole to spark the 9-0 run. Ravine capped it with a layup before the buzzer to make it 38-23 entering the fourth.

Zanesville never got closer than nine in the final stanza.

"That's the best four quarters we've put together all season," Dover coach Bob Von Kaenel said. "Zanesville is well-coached, and you're never comfortable against them. We were able to get to the basket and did an excellent job guarding the guys we needed to."

Underwood finished with 11 points and five rebounds, and Aronde Myers added eight points and eight rebounds in the loss.

Bardall scored 17 points and Ravine chipped in 16 to pace the Tornadoes.

Dover won the reserve game 35-24 behind nine points from Shemar Morton. Cameren Cox had 14 points for Zanesville.

Zanesville plays at Columbus Beechcroft on Saturday with a reserve start of 6 p.m. followed by varsity around 7:30 p.m.
