Ruling affirmed in Coshocton man’s armed robbery case

Staff Report

HOLMES COUNTY – An appeals court has upheld the original ruling to sentence Nathan O. Power to 19 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two September armed robberies.

Power, 31, of Coshocton, pleaded guilty in November to two counts of aggravated robbery, one count of theft of a firearm and one count of receiving stolen property. In exchange for his guilty plea, the state dismissed multiple other felonies on his indictment, including three counts of kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and two counts of petty theft, a misdemeanor.

He was sentenced in December and filed a notice of appeal in January with the Fifth District.

The appeals court affirmed Holmes County Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Rinfret’s ruling on July 24.

Power was arrested and charged on a suspicion of robbing two gas stations on Sept. 5 in Holmes County. Armed with a rifle and a bandana, Power reportedly entered the businesses in the middle of the day and demanded the clerks hand over cash.

Authorities tracked him to a residence near County Road 21, where they placed him under arrest.
