Five injured in Pike County crash

WAVERLY - One person was flown to a Huntington hospital after a three-vehicle crash in Pike County that injured four other people.

According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, at approximately 2:53 p.m. Sunday, a Ford Taurus driven by Juanita Newsome, 58, of Lucasville, was traveling northbound on State Route 335. Newsome failed to yield at a stop sign at State Route 32, and struck a Chevrolet Equinox driven by Larry Townsend, 41, of Jackson.

Townsend’s vehicle then struck a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Rickey Neace, 39, of Beaver.

Newsome was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, WV with non-life threatening injuries. The four passengers in Townsend’s vehicle - Amy, 39, and three children - were transported to Pike Adena Hospital with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
