Friday fire damages Eden Township home

EDEN TOWNSHIP – No injuries were reported in an early morning fire in Eden Township that damaged a home.

The fire was reported on the 11000 block of Rain Rock Road around 3 a.m. Friday.

Newton Township Assistant Chief Doug Smith said the fire was contained to the attic area of the home.

The occupants of the home were already outside by the time fire crews arrived on the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Smith said. Damage is estimated at $60,000.

Fire crews from Newton Township, Mary Ann Township, Utica, Homer and Bladensburg responded.
