Being responsible for ourselves first

Laura Stinchcomb

Saturday brought high winds, monsoon waves, rain and flooding to our rock.

It was as if God were shaking his rain globe in the sky with anger and frustration with us.

In the wake of recent news and court rulings, it seems like we are making our own commandments, our own rules. We twist them, we rationalize and we can justify anything in our lives. I know, because every single one of us is human. It’s our nature.

We are only responsible for ourselves in this crazy world. We are not bringing anything with us when we depart; we shall leave the world as we entered. Doesn’t matter what we think of others, it doesn’t matter what our neighbors, friends, or relatives do. We are only responsible for ourselves.

Regrettably, I recall my mother preaching to me, “Laura, it’s nobody’s business, mind your own!” And, really, our job here is to love one another. Maybe others don’t think or live like you do, but it’s their walk, their story, their journey. We each have our own...

Sympathy

Sympathy to the entire Demshok family, who lost Charlotte, 93, their mother, grandmother, great grandmother and Joe’s beloved wife of almost 64 years. I interviewed the couple for Lake Erie Living Magazine several years ago. The class, charm, integrity, and moral compass of their love and family was such an example that I will carry in my heart. Anyone who knew Charlotte, loved her.

Prayers

Prayers for John Tracey, Tammy Cain and Kamille Allen.
