RV grad makes Austin Peay Hall of Fame

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Carrie Burggraf, a 2006 River Valley graduate, will be inducted into the Austin Peay State University Athletic Hall of Fame this weekend.

At APSU, she set Ohio Valley Conference records in indoor and outdoor track as a pole vaulter, becoming the first female in conference history to crack 13 feet. She was also a second-team Academic All-American and is the only athlete in conference history to win the OVC Scholar-Athlete Award and the Steve Hamilton Sportsmanship Award twice each.

She graduated in 2010 with a degree in political science and got her masters at Pitt in 2012 in public and international affairs. She works for the Ohio Legislative Service Commission in Columbus, researching and drafting Ohio education laws. She lives in Upper Arlington with her husband Cory Messaros (River Valley, 2006 and Bowling Green State University, 2010).
