Licking County under Level 1 snow emergency

NEWARK - Licking County has been placed under a Level 1 snow emergency.

Sheriff Randy Thorp placed Licking County under the emergency at 9:20 a.m.

A Level 1 snow emergency means there is snow on the roads and there is blowing or drifting, making roadways hazardous.

Several local schools were on two-hour delays this morning, including Granville Exempted Village and Heath City Schools. Southwest Licking and Lakewood closed for the day.

Licking County is under a winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. Wednesday, with up to four inches of snow expected.
