CHILLICOTHE - A warrant has been issued for a local man after two separate purse snatching incidents Saturday.

Jonathan L. Walter Jr., 37, is sought on robbery and theft charges after the incidents, which occurred between 4:25 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. He is described as a white male, standing about 6-foot-1, with a thin build, blue eyes and mustache and hair on his chin.

Police first received a call from the Kroger store on Western Avenue, where a woman told police she was loading her groceries into her vehicle when a white male ripped her purse from her hands and ran to a nearby SUV. The woman told police she yelled for help and the SUV nearly ran her over as it sped off. The woman gave police a license plate number and later told police two of her bank cards had been used.

About 40 minutes later, another incident was reported, this time at the Kroger store on Bridge Street. An elderly woman said a man, matching Walter's description, stole her wristlet from her in the parking lot. Witnesses again gave police a license plate number and matched it to Walter's vehicle.

Police said Walter is on parole after serving time on a robbery charge. The local office of the Adult Parole Authority also has issued a warrant for his arrest.

Records show Walter was paroled in November 2014. He was sentenced to four years in prison on a robbery charge in Ross County in 2011. Upon his release, he was placed under parole supervision for three years.
